I love this movie, you guys. It is beautiful.

School of Rock is great. I’ve probably seen it fifteen times, mostly on road trips.

ACTUAL VERSION HERE: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79474529/Poster1b.gif
(file was too big for Tumblr)
Hey so. This is just basically a (completely hypothetical) movie poster for The Intermission in Homestuck. Pretty much all images used in it come from either Homestuck itself, or Google Images. I am by no means a graphic designer or skilled artist, so this looks really amateurish, but it’s more of a proof of concept than anything.
Pretty much the main idea is, “Hey, why aren’t GIF movie posters a more popular idea?”
Because, seriously. Just adding some animation of some sort, or a slight change over time, like the flicker that is SUPPOSED to be in this poster (except the file is a bit big so the computer slows it down a lot, so it doesn’t look nearly as nice as it did in Photoshop initially), has the potential to be a pretty cool concept, whether it’s something that ends up being used to advertise any sort of upcoming movies in theatres in the future, or just used in fanworks like this.
Even something small and subtle can add a surprising boost of life and energy to a poster! It can also be used to convey more information than regular posters. In this case, it also applies especially well to Homestuck, where GIFs like this are used all the time. I’m sure if more talented artists were to give this a shot, the results would be really friggin’ awesome.
Of course there are some inherent drawbacks, like some problems I’ve already listed with the file size and resulting delay (I tried resizing the image to make it take up less space but it started to look all grainy and horrible after a certain point), and it can only really go so far before just turning into a trailer, but it is an idea worth considering.

I love it, I love the images you used, I love the idea of a “gif poster” I basically love everything about this.

This is great!

even though problem sleuth didn’t have any flash animations, you have to admit the gifs in it were awesome.

Problem Sleuth’s art really got more and more amazing as it went on.

That’s especially true with Homestuck. Just compare a page in Act 1 to a Page in Act 5. The current act’s synthesis of the two contrasting art styles is so brilliant, given the nature of the two, combined sessions.
